மனோன்மணியம் சுந்தரனார் பல்கலைக்கழக பட்டமளிப்பு விழா: தமிழ்த்தாய் வாழ்த்து சர்ச்சையால் பரபரப்பு

நெல்லை மனோன்மணியம் சுந்தரனார் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் 33வது பட்டமளிப்பு விழாவில் தமிழ்த்தாய் வாழ்த்து மூன்றாவதாக பாடப்பட்ட விவகாரம் பெரும் சர்ச்சையை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. வந்தே மாதரம் மற்றும் தேசிய கீதத்திற்குப் பிறகு தமிழ்த்தாய் வாழ்த்து பாடப்பட்டதற்கு எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்து உயர்கல்வித் துறை அமைச்சர் விஸ்வநாதன் விழாவைப் புறக்கணித்தார். மேலும், ஆளுநர் கையால் மட்டுமே பட்டம் பெறுவோம் என மாணவர்கள் அரங்கிற்குள் போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டதால் பரபரப்பு ஏற்பட்டது. மாணவர்களின் எதிர்ப்பை அடுத்து அனைவரும் ஆளுநரிடம் பட்டம் பெற துணைவேந்தர் வழிவகை செய்தார். எனினும் தமிழ்த்தாய் வாழ்த்துக்கு முதல் உரிமை மறுக்கப்பட்டதற்கு பல அரசியல் தலைவர்கள் கண்டனம் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.

A major controversy erupted at the 33rd convocation ceremony of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University in Tirunelveli after Tamil Thai Vazhthu was pushed to third place in the order of invocation. Higher Education Minister Viswanathan and local MLA Rajendran boycotted the event in protest against the decision. Furthermore, tension prevailed as students staged protests inside the hall demanding that Governor Arlekar personally distribute degrees to all graduates rather than a select few. Following student protests, the vice-chancellor announced that the governor would confer degrees to all attendees. Political parties and Tamil activists have strongly condemned the university administration for disrespecting the state anthem.
