பொள்ளாச்சி – உடுமலை தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலையில் கோமங்கலம் புதூர் அருகே அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள புதிய சுங்கச்சாவடி, உள்ளூர் மக்களின் எதிர்ப்பை மீறி போலீஸ் பாதுகாப்புடன் திறக்கப்பட்டு பயன்பாட்டுக்கு வந்துள்ளது. ஏற்கனவே பலமுறை திறப்பு தள்ளி வைக்கப்பட்ட நிலையில், எவ்வித முன்னறிவிப்பும் இன்றி சுங்கச்சாவடி திறக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகக் கூறி வாகன ஓட்டிகள் அதிருப்தி தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். லோக்கல் பாஸ் மற்றும் கட்டண விலக்கு கோரி உள்ளூர் வாடகை கார் மற்றும் தனியார் பேருந்து உரிமையாளர்கள் கோரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளனர். இந்த அவசர திறப்பால் கடும் போக்குவரத்து மற்றும் பொருளாதார நெருக்கடி ஏற்பட்டுள்ளதாகப் பொதுமக்கள் ஆதங்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
The newly constructed Gomangalam Pudur toll plaza on the Pollachi-Udumalpet national highway has been made operational amidst strong opposition from local residents. After being postponed thrice due to public outcry, the toll gate was opened with police protection under the supervision of local officials. Vehicle owners and cab operators expressed anger over the sudden implementation without prior notice or local passes. Local bus and taxi operators have demanded fee exemptions, citing severe financial losses due to the short distance charges.
